Our PCN is pleased to announce that from the 1st October there is the intent to offer additional appointments “after hours” Monday to Friday between 18:30 – 19:50 (service closes at 20:00) as well as offering a weekly PCN run Saturday clinic for any of our 30,000 patients within our Primary Care Network.
Our network covers patients registered with: The Sorrells; Horndon on the Hill; Southend Road surgery; Neera; Orsett and Hassengate Medical Centre. These appointments will be available for your practice to book up to 2weeks in advance, with some appointments being available on the day.
On the 30th September the traditional “extended hours” provided by your practice for practice patients will cease.
We would welcome your swift response to the following questions:
- As this service has to accommodate any patient from our PCN, do you have a view as to which practice listed should host the service on any given day?
- The service will encompass face to face; telephone and online services – do you have any preference?
- The service will be for “routine” GP and Practice Nurse appointments initially. Are there any specific health issues you would wish to be addressed during these additional hours?
- Do you have anything else you would like to raise for the development of this service?
- Whilst the service must first offer Monday to Friday 18:30 – 20:00, we are considering also a short session from 07:00 – 08:00 in week – would this be useful?
The development of these services is subject to national criteria and limited resources, but we aim to hear all patient thoughts and develop the service – over time – to better meet patient needs.
